Check Out Whose Pinning The IGCshow

Have you heard of the social network that has taking the world wideweb by storm?  It has been reported by some of the leading social media news sites that more people are hanging out on Pinterest then posting on Facebook in 2012.  If you have a Pinterest 'board' then no doubt you know what I'm talking about when it comes to spending many hours creating your virtual scrapbook using this site.  As part of the #IGC12 social media coverage we have been sharing with thousands and perhaps millions of image addicts the love of gardening via our Independent Garden Center Show 2012 Pinterest Board.

Pets and Gardening

This morning attendees of the lecture presented by P. Allen Smith were inspired by many different avenues to reach their customer in the garden centers. One of the interesting points was the fact that pets play an important part in the garden. As a gardener myself I must admit I feel more at home at garden centers that have a greenhouse kitty or even better yet like the Garden Center in West Seattle that has chickens walking about. I appreciate how Allen encourages us to think out of the box and identify with the real gardeners with pets.

Beautiful Morning in Chicago

This morning I found myself in the east end of the Navy Pier to cover the keynote speakers for the IGCshow.  I just had to share with you all the beautiful view and containers that were growing outside of the The Grand Ballroom which is at the eastern most end of Navy Pier (walk toward the lake and away from the city) on the first level.

On The Navy Pier East End

Looking for a container that can take the heat of the summer in zone 5? This design is perfect judging by how it can handle the elements out here on the Navy Pier in Chicago.

I hope you will continue to follow the IGCshow social coverage and join in the conversation on Twitter using #IGC12 .

Gardens Want To Go Green

Joe Lamp'l of Growing a Greener World

This morning at the Independent Garden Center Show Joe Lamp'l wowed the packed Grand Ball Room sharing the amazing world of growing greener.   Joe is the Host and Producer of Growing a Greener World on PBS, bringing the message of sustainability to television audiences across the country.  This morning during his presentation @JoeGardener urged garden centers to create a wide rang of examples in-store and through products and services that show consumers they can enjoy a beautiful, healthy garden and be green in the process.
