If you
want to see a great example of independent garden centers giving back,
visit booth C-5 to talk with the Spring Meadow/Proven Winners "Pink
Days" crew. Through the sponsorship of "Pink Days" at local garden
centers and sales of the Invincibelle® Spirit hydrangea, Proven Winners
has raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars for breast cancer
research. They've made great progress towards a goal of $1,000,000
raised for this important cause.
Local independent garden centers can participate by hosting a Pink
Day at the garden center. IGCs are free to raise funds for the campaign
in many ways. Some ideas include donating a portion of the proceeds from
the day's sales, matching customer donations, or donating a portion of
sales of individual pink plants. The IGC can benefit from increased
store traffic as well as being known as a local business that's
contributing to the community. Participating IGCs receive a tool kit and
plenty of ideas from the campaign to help them with local marketing
efforts.
In 2011, a total of 187 North American IGCs participated in the Pink
Days campaign. More information is available at Booth C-5 on the IGC
2011 trade floor or on the web at http://www.invincibellespirit.net/Get_Involved.htm
